Motridal produces a wide range of bucket elevators, including both slow bucket elevators with central discharge and fast bucket elevators with peripheral discharge, belt type and single chain or double chain type. Thanks to this variety of products, Motridal can select the best type of machine for every kind of requirement (capacity, material to be handled, service requirements…).

With over 50 years of close co-operation with the technical staffs of its customers and thanks to the high quality of the components used, Motridal can manufacture bucket elevators, with high-capacity (more than 1.000 t/h) and heights over 70 m.

On the basis of its consolidated know how and highly qualified engineering staff, Motridal can provide turn key solution expressly studied to satisfy any customers' specific needs. Motridal operates world wide and gives local assistance for the erection and start up of the machines.

DOUBLE CHAIN BUCKET ELEVATORS
The material characteristics (temperature, abrasiveness…) or the particular environmental needs, may require a fast chain bucket elevator with peripheral discharge.

Motridal can provide double chain bucket elevators with smooth or sprocket wheels (for heavy duty applications). The bucket elevator wheels have bolted rims easily replaceable fabricated in wear resistant steel.

Motridal’s double chain bucket elevators are available not only with sectional chains and shackles (DIN system), but also with other bucket mounting systems which allow the use of continuous chains.

Slow bucket elevators with central discharge are used for conveying crumbly materials, with a big lump size (lime, calcium oxide…) in order to minimize dusting. These machines are equipped with double chain, properly shaped buckets and a hopper below the driving wheels..

CENTRAL CHAIN BUCKET ELEVATORS
High-speed bucket elevators with long centres distances, intended for heavy-duty, can be equipped with a traction element composed of a single chain.

This system allows long service life of the chain, thanks to the specific chain design employing rotating pins. Furthermore, the use of a single traction element guarantees a perfect bucket alignment in every working condition. Motridal’s central chain bucket elevators are available both with smooth or sprocket wheels depending on the application required.

BELT BUCKET ELEVATORS
Belt bucket elevators are used for conveying fine materials at long centre distances.

The traction element of these machines is a belt with Nylon-Polyester carcass with a rubber cover; a steel cord carcass belt is also available for heavy-duty applications.

Thanks to the availability of belt covers in antiwear, anti-oil or thermo-resistant material, belt bucket elevators can be used in several industrial fields (cement factories, chemical, food industry…).

Furthermore, the belt allows optimising the bucket spacing, in order to achieve the required capacity without changing the speed or the bucket filling, ensuring a high reliability level and a long life of the machine.

The drive pulley is crowned type for belt centring, lagged with synthetic rubber to guarantee an high coefficient of friction for belt drive. The rubber is grooved with rhomboidal design with self cleaning characteristics. As option, the rubber lining is realized with strips made of synthetic rubber.

All the strips are interchangeable and can be easily replaced when they get worn.

The replacement is made directly from the outside trough dedicated hatches avoiding any machine dismounting.

The drive shaft is made of 39 NiCrMo 3 and is designed for resistance against bending, torque and yield. The assembly of the shaft and the drum is realized by means of locking ring.

Return idle drum is squirrel cage type, in order to prevent belt damage due to material falling between belt and drum. The bars are in C 40, slightly bent to obtain a proper convexity of the drum.

1 Drive Head Lower section made with high thickness steel sheets heavily stiffened. Steel split upper cover easily removable for inspection and maintenance of drive pulley/wheels. Dust vent on top and inspection hatch located at the outlet.
2 Inlet/Outlet openings prearranged for the connection with other machines; chutes lined with wear resistant material when required.
3 Buckets on the basis of the conveyed material characteristics the buckets are made of :
- carbon steel
- wear resistant steel
- stainless steel
- plastic material (polyamide 6, Zytel B ® by Dupont)

Buckets are made with bent and welded steel plates, properly reinforced with welded plates in wear resistant material for heavy duty application, drawn or pressed for light materials;
4 Casing of the elevators is made of welded and bolted sections, designed to obtain a self-supporting structure of the machine for the vertical loads. The assembling sections is done by bolted flanges, with seals between each section. Bolted door for easy bucket inspection and mounting.

5 Bottom head Made with high thickness steel sheets is equipped with removable bolted door for inspection and cleaning.

6 Drive unit configuration may vary depending on the application. The typical drive unit for installed power of 22kW or more includes electric motor, hydraulic coupling and right angle gearbox with backstop and torque arm directly mounted on the drive shaft.

Additional electric motor for creeping can be installed, upon request, on the gearbox. As an alternative, drive units can be equipped with belt drive between electric motor and gear unit.

7 Take-up The gravity take-up system of the bucket elevators is equipped with additional dust-tight seals between the casing and the guide of the idle shaft.

Belt bucket elevators realised for heavy duty application are equipped with a self aligning system which ensure the safe parallel guidance of the pulley.

The idle shaft is supported by two externally mounted flanged cast steel supports with double-row self-aligning ball bearings.
